Three's Company
Before
One Tuesday this past July, a HAHS investigator was called out to round up loose horses. Once they were back home, she realized the horses had escaped because they had no food or water. The investigator called HAHS for reinforcements and began tracking down the owner. By the time the investigator returned the next day with help, it was too late to save the beautiful bay Arabian stallion that had gotten out again and been hit by a car. But it wasn't too late to rescue a skinny bay mare and an emaciated chestnut mare nursing a stunted little colt.
After
While their owner fought in court to get the horses back, the horses fought to gain weight and strength at a secret foster location. Six weeks after the impoundment they were finally brought to the HAHS farm so their recovery could truly begin. Hours of dental work, repeated corrective hoof trimmings, careful dewormings, and a meticulous feeding program have produced amazing results. Ironically, these are three of the most gentle and friendly horses we have ever had the pleasure of working with, proving just how kind and forgiving horses are.
