Volunteer at HAHS

The HAHS Volunteer Program

Whether you want to learn more about animals, meet others like yourself, reduce stress with physical activity, or simply make a difference in the life of a neglected animal, we (and the animals!) really appreciate your interest. To become a volunteer you must be age 16 or older, or age 12-15 with a parent or legal guardian volunteering alongside you.

To become a HAHS volunteer, you must attend one of our Volunteer Information Sessions. At these sessions, we introduce you to HAHS (our mission, our farm, and our animals) and tell you what to expect from volunteering at HAHS. For example, we ask that all volunteers work at least five hours per month. Volunteers are not allowed to ride or work  the horses! Some of the volunteer jobs include:
                       a)  mucking stalls,
                       b)  picking pastures,
                       c)  raking leaves,
                       d)  scrubbing water buckets,
                       e)  stuffing envelopes,
                       f)   weeding flowerbeds,
                       g)  working events.

If interested, a HAHS volunteer will complete a volunteer application before the orientation. Even if you are an experienced horse/farm animal person, the Volunteer Orientation is required to become a volunteer. It stresses the importance of safety around HAHS and the animals.
In memory of Sandy The sessions will start at 9am and last about 1-1/2 hours.  Come dressed to work!! (No open toed shoes) Reservations are not required.

Please visit our calendar of events for the 2018 Volunteer Orientation schedule!
