Terry Savage

Terry Savage is a nationally known expert on personal finance, the markets, and the economy. Terry is a regular blogger at the Huffington Post. She is a frequent guest on television and radio shows, including CNNCBS, and appeared many times on Oprah!  Terry is in demand as a speaker at business meetings across the country. Her lively presentation style entertains as well as informs, whether talking about global economics, investing techniques, or personal finances. In 2012, Terry was named a “Top5 Speaker” in Economics/Finance as a result of popular votes at the web site.Terry’s most recent book is a new edition of The Savage Truth on Money, which was named one of the ten best money books of the year by in its first edition. She started her career as a stockbroker, and became a founding member — and the first woman trader — on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Savage was also a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where she traded interest rate contracts and currency futures. She is a registered investment advisor for both stocks and futures.Terry Savage has won numerous awards, including the National Press Club award for Outstanding Consumer Journalism, and the Outstanding Personal Finance Columnist award given by the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and two Emmys for her television work.Savage takes an active role in America’s business community. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group, and previously served on the boards of McDonald’s Corporation for 14 years and Pennzoil-Quaker State Corporation for 5 years. She was a recipient of the Director’s Choice Award honoring selected women who serve on America’s top corporate boards.She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan, where she won a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship in American Studies.

Ledy VanKavage, Esq.

Ledy VanKavage is the Senior Legislative Attorney for Best Friends Animal Society located in Kanab, Utah and the current chair of the ISBA’s animal law section. Before coming to Best Friends, Ledy was the Senior Director of Legislation and Legal Training for the ASPCA. She has spearheaded the passage of over 35 humane state bills during her lobbying tenure and is also a past Chair of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee.  Ledy is the recipient of the ABA’s Excellence in Animal Law award for 2014. She is a co-author of the USDOJ publication, “The Problem of Dog Related Incidents and Encounters” and is an instructor for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. She has been interviewed on MSNBC, NPR, the Chicago Tribune, Time Magazine and the New York Times.

Quandee P. Semrow 

Quandee Semrow has a B.S. from Loyola University, Chicago, and a J.D. from IIT Chicago-Kent School of Law. She has been working for the Cook County Public Defender for the past 13 years, and is presently in the Forensic Sciences Division.  Quandee has been riding since she was six years old, when she received her first English Saddlebred. She and her mother then started showing horses on the English Saddlebred circuit.  Her mother, former owner of Peebles Stable in Morton Grove, Illinois, eventually became a National Champion with her harness horse in the late 1980s. 

Quandee has worked in every aspect of animal rescue for the past 20 years, and has even volunteered at HAHS events and horse fairs, presenting HAHS horses for adoption. She has managed Petco adoption events for Chicago Animal Care  Control (CACC) and has organized adoption events for ACC and for Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, among others.
She has managed the donation spect for fundraisers for Chicago Cat Rescue and Adopt a Bull, and has hosted a fundraiser for Safe Humane Chicago.
